What is the purpose of the fabric strip on hotel beds? At first glance, the brightly colored fabric strip may seem useless, and guests often remove it for comfort.
In addition to a full set of pillows, blankets, and sheets, most hotel beds around the world have a bed runner: a piece of black fabric about half a meter wide, placed over the bed.
Below are some of the common uses of this tape.
Food placement. Many travelers prefer to relax in bed with their favorite snacks. Many people place their food on the bedspread to keep the bed clean. Unlike sheets and blankets, this strip is usually black, making it easier to clean if it gets dirty.
Placement of personal items. A bed runner can absorb dirt and bacteria from personal items such as a jacket, purse, or backpack that you need to leave on the bed. This keeps the bedding more hygienic and allows you to feel more relaxed in bed. Its placement near the foot of the bed makes it easy to put things away without thinking.
Footrest. Upon returning to their room, many people want to get straight into bed, sometimes without even taking off their shoes or socks or washing their feet. In those cases, a bed runner serves as an improvised footrest that keeps the white sheets clean.
Intimate activity mat A bed runner can be a real lifesaver when couples use it as a mat during intimate moments to avoid unpleasant stains on blankets and sheets.
This flan isn’t just a dessert; it’s a trip back to childhood. With its smooth texture, vanilla aroma, and glistening caramel, this homemade flan, like grandma used to make, becomes the star of any table. Perfect for ending a family lunch, surprising your guests, or simply indulging in a sweet treat made with love.
INGREDIENTS:
1 liter of whole milk
1 cup of sugar
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
½ cup of sugar (for the caramel)
STEP-BY-STEP PREPARATION: PREPARE THE CARAMEL: Place 1/2 cup of sugar in a pan over medium heat. Stir until melted and golden brown. Quickly pour into the bottom of the mold and spread evenly before it hardens.
FLAN MIXTURE: In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until well combined. Gradually add the milk along with the vanilla. Mix gently until you obtain a smooth mixture.
BAKING IN A WATER BATH: Pour the mixture over the caramel in the mold. Place the mold inside a tray with hot water and bake at 180°C for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
COOL AND SERVE: Let cool completely, then refrigerate for a few hours. Carefully unmold and enjoy this sweet and nostalgic treat.
