Ingredients
•8 oz (225 g) mozzarella or halloumi cheese, cut into cubes
•1/2 cup all-purpose flour
•2 large eggs, beaten
•1 cup breadcrumbs (regular or panko)
•1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
•1/2 teaspoon paprika
•Salt and black pepper, to taste
•Vegetable oil, for frying
•Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley), for garnish – optional
Instructions
1. Cut the cheese into evenly sized cubes or rectangles. Place them in the freezer for 30 minutes to help prevent melting during frying.
2. Prepare three bowls:
•Bowl 1: flour mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder
•Bowl 2: beaten eggs
•Bowl 3: breadcrumbs mixed with paprika
3. Remove cheese from the freezer. Dredge each piece in flour, then dip into egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently.
4. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more.
5. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
6. Fry the cheese bites for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
8. Garnish with herbs and serve immediately while hot and melty.
