A Cloud Cake is exactly what it sounds like — light, airy, and dreamy! There are different styles of “cloud cakes” out there (like Japanese cotton cheesecake, mousse-based cakes, or whipped cream cakes), but here’s a super popular and easy version that resembles a no-bake whipped cream and pudding layered cake — fluffy, creamy, and cloud-like in texture. Perfect for birthdays, showers, or just because.
Cloud Cake (No-Bake Whipped Pudding Cake)
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Chill Time: 4+ hours (or overnight)
Serves: 8–10
Ingredients
1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix (or any flavor you love — chocolate, lemon, etc.)
2 cups cold milk
1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
1 package graham crackers or ladyfingers (or sponge cake slices)
Optional mix-ins: mini marshmallows, fresh berries, or chocolate chips
For Topping (optional):
Additional whipped topping
Fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries)
Shaved chocolate or sprinkles
Powdered sugar
Instructions
1. Make the Pudding Layer
In a medium bowl, whisk together pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes, until thickened.
Fold in half (or all) of the whipped topping until smooth and fluffy.
2. Layer the Cake
In a 9×9-inch or 9×13-inch dish:
Lay down a single layer of graham crackers (or ladyfingers/sponge slices).
Spread half of the pudding mixture over the crackers.
Repeat with another layer of crackers and the remaining pudding mixture.
Top with a final layer of crackers (optional) and the rest of the whipped topping for a pretty “cloud” finish.
3. Chill
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight. This allows the crackers to soften into a cake-like texture.
4. Decorate and Serve
Just before serving, top with fresh fruit, chocolate shavings, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Slice and enjoy the cloud-like fluffiness!
Storage
Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Best eaten cold and fresh.
Variations
